Amy Tate Williams serves as Chorus Master and Accompanist for Nashville Opera, accompanying all productions and promotional events, casting and preparing the opera choruses and coaching principal and apprentice artists (1998-present). She also serves as Opera Director for the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts (2003-present) where she creates, casts, blocks, choreographs and accompanies a 40 min. costumed production. A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Amy holds a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Western Kentucky University and Master's Degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Accompanying from Florida State University. Her primary instructors were Sylvia Kersenbaum, Marilyn Neeley and Dr. Carolyn Bridger. After her Graduate Assistantship in Opera Accompanying at FSU, Amy served as Coach Accompanist at Glimmerglass Opera, Nevada Opera, Augusta Opera, and Des Moines Metro Opera, toured for two consecutive seasons as Music Director for OPERAIowa, and trained for two years in the Houston Opera Studio at Houston Grand Opera, studying piano with Carlisle Floyd. As an educator, Amy has taught vocal music for an acappella ensemble that concertized in Bavaria, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic. She has led Master Classes at Belmont University, Western Kentucky University and Middle Tennessee State University, and has served as Guest Opera Coach at University of Memphis. In 2015, she acted as Stage Director and Conductor for a full production of “The Merry Widow” at Middle Tennessee State University. Amy has been an active church musician as well, most recently serving a 13 month appointment as Interim Minister of Music at Crievewood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. In August 2010, she launched RANDAMWILLMusic.com, the online source for the music of Amy Tate Williams. The site features print music for solo voice with demo and accompaniment tracks, music for solo piano, piano ensemble, sacred choral pieces and 2 solo CD recordings. Her music is being performed worldwide on the concert stage, in the church and in the finest academic institutions. In addition, she has composed two children’s operas, both of which have been produced at regional opera companies as touring educational shows for hundreds of children.
